Tom Russell Reading and Performance

Tom Russell will be giving a rare reading and solo concert on January 20th at 5:00 PM, in New York City. Tom will read from his new book, “120 Songs,” and will also tell stories about the songs, and about meeting the Beatles and Dylan, writing with Ian Tyson, etc. He will also play some rarities…solo, on guitar and piano.

Seats are $50 each, and we’re told there are only a few remaining. If you’re in New York on the 20th, we can’t think of a better way to spend the evening.

“Sports Afield” Chimes in on “The Snow Leopard’s Tale”

We just learned that venerable hunting and fishing magazine Sports Afield is running, in its new issue, a notice for The Snow Leopard’s Tale. Among other glowing remarks, Editor Diana Rupp writes, “McIntyre’s beautifully written descriptions of the Central Asian highlands and the gripping evocations of the fear and hunger that drives the snow leopard…will cause The Snow Leopard’s Tale to stay with you for a long time.”

Thomas McIntyre at Pine Creek Lodge

Last night at Pine Creek Lodge south of Livingston, Bangtail author Tom McIntyre read from The Snow Leopard’s Tale. A great reading, and a very nice turnout, despite wintry weather outside. Gotta love our Montana arts communities!

Many thanks both to Pine Creek Lodge as well as Elk River Books for hosting the reading.

“Riding the Rough String” Reviewed in Big Sky Journal

Toby Thompson’s Riding the Rough String continues to rack up the accolades. Most recently, Big Sky Journal leads off the review section of their current issue with a rave.

“Thompson, in telling other people’s stories, is also telling his story and, in a wider sense, the story of the modern West — his West, our West  — a place of infinite change rooted in a long history.”

Amen…

Check out the new Big Sky Journal for a full page ad from Bangtail Press.

Bangtail and BSJ have a long and friendly history together, and we’re delighted to see this relationship continue. We’re also, frankly, more than a little stoked to see all our blurb endorsements lined up together on one page: Annie Proulx and Rick Bass, William Kittredge and P. J. O’Rourke.

I mean…damn.
